Lectures on architecture, comprising the history of the art from the earliest times to the present day: delivered at the Surrey and Russell Institutions, London, and the Philosophical Institution at Birmingham
James Elmes published these lectures on the history of architecture in London in 1823, having delivered them to general audiences at the Surrey and Russell Institutions and Birmingham's Philosophical Institution. The plates are small outline engravings of classical orders, showing Doric entablatures, Ionic volute capitals and fluted column bases in clean unshaded line suited to enlargement, tracing or ornament borders.
