Lectures on coal tar colours, and on recent improvements and progress in dyeing and calico printing, embodying copious notes taken at the last London International Exhibition..

Crace-Calvert, F. (Frederick), 1819-1873 · 1860 · Philadelphia, H.C. Baird · 10 pictures

Frederick Crace-Calvert's 1860 Philadelphia edition of lectures on coal-tar colours, dyeing and calico printing, issued by H.C. Baird for industrial chemists, dyers and print works after the London International Exhibition. The plates are actual mounted fabric swatches tipped onto tinted paper, showing aniline purples, magentas and deep maroons as flat dyed grounds and warp-striped weaves, useful as woven-texture scans, early synthetic-dye colour references and torn-edge sample motifs.
