Lectures on light, delivered in the United States in 1872-'73; with an appendix
John Tyndall's Lectures on Light, printed by Appleton in New York in 1873, sets out his American lecture tour demonstrations for general readers and students of optics. The wood engravings show bench apparatus in profile — lamp housings, lenses on tripod stands, prisms, mirrors and induction coils — with ruled light rays crossing to screens, giving designers letter-keyed diagrams and clean line stands.
