A Dutch emblem book of moral and scriptural subjects by Govert Klinkhamer, published in Amsterdam in 1756 by booksellers Jacob ter Beek and Kornelis de Veer for Protestant readers. The small etchings each place one draped female figure — holding a candle, kneeling, gesturing skyward — on a low rise before banked clouds, with tiny groups of mourners, classical ruins and gabled houses in the distance; useful for stock emblem figures, hatched cloud banks and sparse foreground plant tufts.
