Le génie de l'architecture, ou, L'analogie de cet art avec nos sensations
Nicolas Le Camus de Mézières's treatise on architecture and the senses, printed in Paris in 1780 by Benoit Morin for architects and cultivated readers of French aesthetic theory. The plates here are letterpress typographic ornaments — symmetrical woodcut headpieces and tailpieces of flowering scrolls, acanthus, urns and a draped canopy — usable as rules, chapter markers and small centred devices.
