Le grand esclairsissement de la pierre philosophale pour la transmutation de tous les metaux
A French alchemical tract attributed to Nicolas Flamel on the philosopher's stone and transmutation of metals, printed in Paris by Louys Vendosme in 1628 with engraving by Jean Blanchin, for readers of hermetic and medical literature. Its woodcut headpieces and inhabited initials carry grotesque foliate scrolls, winged dragons, putti and a central mask, supplying compact strips and letter frames for period typography.
