Lehrbuch der Krankheiten des Herzens und der Blutgefässe
A German medical textbook on diseases of the heart and blood vessels by Ernst von Romberg, published in Stuttgart by F. Enke in 1906 for physicians and medical students. The plates are halftone photographs of patients' bare torsos overdrawn in heavy ink with percussion outlines of the heart and liver, plus dotted lines and crosses marking landmarks, offering designers a stock of diagrammatic marks laid directly over soft-grained photographic bodies.
