Le mura di Roma
An antiquarian survey of the Aurelian walls of Rome, written by Antonio Nibby with views drawn by the English traveller Sir William Gell and printed by Vincenzo Poggioli in Rome in 1820 for scholars and travellers. Numbered outline etchings show gates, brick towers and long stretches of curtain wall, with framing trees, small figures and blank skies useful as fine-line architectural silhouettes.
