Le Newtonianisme pour les dames, ou, Entretiens sur la lumiere, sur les couleurs, et sur l'attraction
Francesco Algarotti's dialogues explaining Newton's optics and attraction to a lay female readership, translated into French by Du Perron de Castera and printed by Montalant in Paris, 1739. The pictures are letterpress ornaments: woodcut headpieces, tailpieces, flower and fruit baskets in scrolled cartouches, and hatched foliate initials, usable as rules, dividers, and drop caps.
