The lens
A quarterly journal of microscopy issued in 1873 by the State Microscopical Society of Illinois in Chicago, written for amateur and professional microscopists reporting on specimens and instruments. The plates are outline line drawings of diatom valves seen in plan and profile, numbered and filled with fine parallel striations, offering repeatable striped oval and hourglass forms for pattern and ornament work.
