Le Nu au salon
An annual illustrated survey of the nude as shown at the Paris Salons, with text by the critic and poet Armand Silvestre, issued in 1888 by E. Bernard & Cie for French art amateurs and collectors. Plates mix soft grey halftones of exhibited paintings with sharp old-master etchings of nymphs, satyrs, bathers and tomb scenes, offering reclining figure groups, dense crosshatched foliage and deep woodland backgrounds.
