Le pitture, e sculture di Modena
A topographical guide to the paintings and sculptures of Modena's churches and palaces, written by Gian Filiberto Pagani and printed in 1770 by the heirs of Bartolomeo Soliani for local readers and travelling art visitors. The plates indexed here are printers' woodcut ornaments rather than views: rococo tailpieces built from C-scrolls, lidded urns, shells, tasselled drapery and flower sprays, usable as small symmetrical vignettes, section dividers and corner motifs.
