Marco Boschini's guide to the paintings of Venice's churches and public buildings, printed in Venice by Francesco Nicolini in 1674 for collectors, travellers and connoisseurs. The plates here are letterpress ornament rather than views: heavy woodcut initials with figures and foliage inside a ruled frame, and a strapwork headband band enclosing an IHS monogram, printed with broken, ink-clogged lines useful as period display letters and rules.
