A French study of dress and the Romantic movement by Louis Maigron, published in Paris by Champion in 1911 and drawn from unpublished documents, aimed at readers of costume and literary history. Plates reproduce 1830s fashion drawings of women in wide-sleeved gowns and plumed hats, neo-Gothic vignettes with canopied arcades and foliate borders, and topographical views of country houses, giving designers period silhouettes, ornamental frames and engraved line textures.
