Jules Verne's Arctic adventure novel, the first part of the Captain Hatteras voyages, issued in Paris by J. Hetzel for a French reading public of the 1860s-70s. The two images here are printers' and owners' marks rather than plates: Hetzel's interlaced JH monogram in a scrolled cartouche with engraved line shading, and a black-line stamp of foliage and small beasts.
