Les artistes écrivains : avec 16 planches hors texte
A 1921 French study of artists who also wrote, by Paul Ratouis de Limay, published in Paris by Félix Alcan with sixteen plates outside the text, aimed at readers of art history and criticism. The plates are halftone reproductions of painted and drawn self-portraits and likenesses, mostly head-and-shoulders on dark tonal grounds, with soft chalk-drawing textures and a few profile views useful as period portrait stock, silhouette shapes, or grainy monochrome tone.
