Les arts du tissu
Gaston Migeon's Les arts du tissu, published by H. Laurens in Paris in 1909, surveys the history of woven silk, tapestry, embroidery and lace for museum curators, collectors and students of decorative art. Its 175 halftone plates photograph textiles flat: figured medallions, borders of foliage and beasts, crowded tapestry scenes, giving designers repeat patterns, roundel frames and drapery motifs in soft grey tone.
