Les chefs-d'oeuvres de Rubens (1577-1640) : soixante reproductions photographiques des peintures originales
A French picture portfolio of 1918 issued by Perche in Paris, reproducing sixty paintings by Peter Paul Rubens in photographic halftone from Franz Hanfstaengl negatives, made for art students, collectors and print buyers. The plates are dark, soft-edged half-length portraits and figure groups in which lace collars, pearl ropes, plumed hats and slashed sleeves catch the light against near-black grounds, useful for shadowed portrait silhouettes, costume detail and heavy tonal backgrounds.
