Les emblemes d'amour diuin et humain ensemble : expliquez par des vers françois
A French emblem book of divine and human love, issued by the Paris publisher Pierre Mariette in 1640, pairing engraved plates with explanatory French verses for devotional readers. The small copperplates stage a winged, haloed Amor Divinus and a female soul in bare landscapes with crosses, bows, flames and sprouting plants, giving designers compact figure groups and fine hatched line work.
