A French-language guide to the paintings, sculpture and buildings of Rome and its surroundings, written by François Raguenet and printed in Amsterdam in 1701 by Estienne Roger for travellers and collectors reading about Italy from abroad. The images indexed here are small typographic woodcut tailpieces: symmetrical sprays of acanthus leaves, buds and scrolling tendrils, heavily inked on laid paper with type showing through, usable as section breaks, page-end marks or coarse-grained decorative stamps.
