A volume from Gustave Geffroy's "Les musées d'Europe" series, published in Paris by Nilsson around 1900, surveying the Louvre's sculpture collection for French museum-goers and students. The 211 halftones photograph marble and bronze figures in gallery corners against blotched walls, giving cropped torsos, draped saints, portrait heads on plinths, and strong raking light usable as silhouette, texture, and figure reference.
