Les origines de l'édifice hypostyle en Grèce, en Orient et chez les romains

Leroux, Gabriel, 1879-1915 · 1913 · Paris : Fontemoing · 45 pictures

A 1913 archaeological monograph by Gabriel Leroux, published in Paris by Fontemoing, tracing the origins of the columned hypostyle hall in Greece, the Near East and Roman building, written for archaeologists and architectural historians. The plates are small line-block ground plans: walls as solid black or diagonally hatched bands, columns as filled and open dots, doorways as white gaps, rooms numbered — a stock of flat geometric diagrams usable as pattern, map-like marks, or abstract black-and-white motifs.
