L'estampe satirique et la caricature en France au 18e siècle; préf. de Maurice Tourneux
A survey of French satirical prints and caricature of the eighteenth century by André Blum, with a preface by Maurice Tourneux, published in Paris by the Gazette des Beaux-Arts in 1910 for print collectors and art historians. The plates reproduce etchings and engravings: crowded interiors of quarrelling courtiers, animal-headed figures at a card party, ladder-climbing workmen, and allegorical scenes of winged figures and falling coins, all in dense, scratchy line usable for crosshatched textures, period costume and satirical crowd groupings.
