A French carpentry manual by Mathurin Jousse, printed at La Flèche in 1627 for master carpenters and builders, setting out timber framing with figured plates and explanatory text. The woodcuts are line diagrams of floor joists, roof trusses, stair plans and vaulted ceiling coffers, drawn in plan and section with hatched beams, radiating construction lines and lettered keys usable as geometric pattern and technical ornament.
