A French emblem book of one hundred moral emblems by Guillaume de La Perrière, printed by Denis Janot in Paris in 1545 for educated lay readers. The plates pair ruled woodcut frames with repeated ornamental bands in which a grotesque mask sits among symmetrical scrolling foliage, giving designers reusable borders, tailpieces and mask motifs in plain black line.
