Luiken, Jan, 1649-1712, Beeck, Barent, fl. 1682-1693 · 1691 · A la Haye : Chez Barent Beek ... · 77 pictures

A 1691 Hague festival book, etched by Jan Luyken and published by Barent Beeck, recording the 65 triumphal arches, pyramids, painted tableaux and emblematic devices raised for the entry of William III as king of England, described in French for readers following the ceremonies. The upright etchings combine allegorical crowds, armoured Roman-dress soldiers, flying Fames and chained captives with canal processions of decorated barges, offering designers emblem groupings, architectural stage sets, and dense line hatching for skies and drapery.
