Letters from foreign lands
Travel letters by the American physician and chemist Robert Gibson Eccles, issued in 1910 by the Medical Fortnightly in St. Louis for a readership of doctors. The single plate is a halftone author portrait, vignetted into a soft oval against blank paper: pince-nez on a cord, heavy moustache, high collar and spotted necktie, useful as a period frontispiece head or stock professional likeness.
