Francesco Milizia's biographical dictionary of architects, prefaced by an essay on architecture, printed in Rome in 1768 by Paolo Giunchi Komarek for the bookseller Venanzio Monaldini, addressed to architects and learned readers. Engraved plates set out lettered geometric diagrams of arches, vaults and polygonal plans, while woodcut initials and rococo tailpieces show ruins, trees and trophies of drawing instruments.
