Giorgio Vasari's Lives of the Painters, Sculptors and Architects in the expanded 1568 Florentine edition printed by the Giunti, with woodcuts cut by Cristoforo Chrieger for artists, patrons and scholarly readers. The plates here are small relief-cut ornaments: winged crowned masks flanked by grotesque profile heads on a bracketed frieze, and figured initials where paired figures stand inside a hatched box, all usable as headpieces, drop caps and border fragments at display size.
