L'expression des sentiments dans l'art grec : les facteurs expressifs
A French art-historical study of how emotion is conveyed in Greek sculpture, written by the Swiss archaeologist Waldemar Deonna and published by H. Laurens in Paris in 1914 for classicists and art students. The plates are close-cropped halftone photographs of marble and terracotta heads — archaic smiles, spiral-curled fringes, beaded braids, broken noses and weathered surfaces — useful for grainy monochrome texture, profile silhouettes and studies of facial expression.
