Lezione
A printed lecture on painting that Filippo Baldinucci delivered to the Accademia della Crusca, issued in Florence by Pier Matini in 1692 for an academic readership of scholars and connoisseurs. The plates are typographic ornament rather than subject illustration: a woodcut headband of acanthus scrolls flanking putti and the Medici palle shield, foliate initials with herons and swans in the counters, and a combed marbled endpaper carrying an engraved armorial bookplate.
