The life and times of A.B. Durand

Durand, John, 1822-1908 · 1894 · New York : C. Scribner · 19 pictures

A biography of the American engraver and Hudson River School painter Asher Brown Durand, written by his son John Durand and published by Charles Scribner in New York in 1894 for art students, collectors and the general reading public. The plates reproduce Durand's engravings and paintings in soft halftone and line: allegorical female figures in classical drapery, a bather in woodland, seated women with sheaves and cattle, and portrait heads in dark coats against plain grounds.
