A two-volume literary biography of Petrarch by the Scottish poet Thomas Campbell, published in London by Henry Colburn in 1843 for British readers of belles-lettres and antiquarian history, with numismatic notes by J. G. Pfister. Plates combine engraved coins of medieval Italian states, arranged in rows with worn lettering, crowns, crosses and enthroned figures, with a stipple portrait of a woman in profile set in a cartouche of scrolls and putti; also marbled endpapers in brown and green.
