Light and the behavior of organisms
A 1911 experimental biology monograph by Samuel Ottmar Mast, published in New York by J. Wiley, reporting laboratory studies of how light directs the movement of protozoa and other small organisms, written for zoologists and physiologists. The plates are line diagrams: traced paths of swimming organisms, ruled beams of light, arrow arrays marking direction, and lettered stages of a body bending, usable as sparse linear notation and motion-track graphics.
