L'imagerie phenicienne et la mythologie iconologique chez les Grecs
An archaeological monograph by Charles Clermont-Ganneau on Phoenician engraved metalwork and its bearing on Greek mythological imagery, published in Paris by E. Leroux in 1880 for scholars and museum readers. The plates are outline engravings of shallow bronze and silver bowls drawn flat, with concentric registers of chariots, soldiers, winged deities, lions and bulls separated by guilloche, rope and braid bands; designers can lift ready-made circular border systems, rosette centres and repeating figure friezes.
