A French technical treatise on the paper industry by Gabriel Planche, published in Paris by Firmin Didot frères in 1853 for mill owners, engineers, and paper trades. The indexed pictures are close views of its marbled endpapers: brown grounds crossed by diagonal ribbing, with white and teal veins pooling into a cellular net that can be cropped for tiling textures, background fills, or cover papers.
