Lithography and lithographers; some chapters in the history of the art
A history of lithography by Elizabeth Robins Pennell and Joseph Pennell, issued by Macmillan in New York in 1915 for printers, collectors and art students. The 81 halftone reproductions of lithographs run from crowded eighteenth-century-costume tableaux and gallery interiors to modern crowd scenes at a gangway and soft-edged chalk portrait heads, useful for grainy tonal texture and massed figure grouping.
