Little Henry and his bird
A short children's story published in 1851 by John R. Bolles of New London, Connecticut, with wood engravings by John D. Felter, sold for young readers alongside lessons on birds, kites and electricity. The cuts are simple outlined wood engravings hand-coloured in flat red, yellow and green, giving usable figures of a boy in a red tunic, garden shrubs, perched birds and a stalking cat.
