The lives of the British sculptors, and those who have worked in England from the earliest days to Sir Francis Chantrey
A chronological set of biographies of sculptors working in Britain from the Middle Ages to Chantrey, written by the topographer and art historian E. Beresford Chancellor and published in London by Chapman & Hall in 1911 for collectors and students of British art. The plates are halftone reproductions of painted portraits in which sculptors pose beside marble busts and hold chisels or calipers, printed in soft grey washes against dark studio backgrounds; useful for figure-and-bust compositions, hands gripping tools, and turbans, wigs and heavy draped coats.
