Livre de differants desseings de parterres
A pattern book of French formal garden parterres, engraved by Daniel Rabel and published by Melchior Tavernier in Paris in 1630 for garden designers and landowners laying out ground plans. The plates are line-engraved overhead views of square beds filled with symmetrical scrolling foliage, tight volutes and small flower heads, divided by blank gravel paths crossing at a central medallion — usable as fine-line ornament, endpapers, borders or tiling motifs.
