Lloyd's steamboat directory, and disasters on the western waters

Lloyd, James T. [from old catalog] · 1856 · Cincinnati, Ohio, J. T. Lloyd & co.; Chicago, Ill., D. B. Cooke & co. · 128 pictures

A traveler's and riverman's guide to steamboat navigation on the Ohio and Mississippi, compiled by James T. Lloyd and published in Cincinnati and Chicago in 1856 for passengers, pilots and shippers. The plates are narrow strip maps of the river channel, stippled with sandbars and islands and labeled with towns, creeks and county lines, alongside engravings of boats, boiler explosions and wrecks; useful for segmented map ribbons, hand-lettered place labels and stipple textures.
