A London encyclopaedia, or universal dictionary of science, art, literature and practical mechanics : comprising a popular view of the present state of knowledge : illustrated by numerous engravings, a general atlas, and appropriate diagrams
A general reference encyclopaedia edited by Thomas Curtis and published by Thomas Tegg in London in 1829, covering science, art, literature and practical mechanics for a broad self-educating readership. The plates are engraved technical diagrams grouped several figures to a page: optical ray paths through lenses, telescope mounts and tripods, bevel gears and shaft couplings, cylinders and cutaway drums, all in fine line with light hatching and small numbered labels, useful as ready-made diagram sets or line motifs.
