London and its environs in the nineteenth century : illustrated by a series of views from original drawings
A topographical view-book of London published by Jones & Co. in 1831, with steel engravings after Thomas Hosmer Shepherd's drawings and text by the architect James Elmes, sold to subscribers interested in the city's new buildings. The plates show churches, banks and terraces in raking perspective, with lamp posts, carts, dogs and small groups of pedestrians giving scale along cobbled streets.
