Los emblemas de Alciato : traducidos en rhimas españolas ...
Andrea Alciato's emblem book rendered into Spanish verse and printed at Lyon in 1549 by Guillaume Rouillé, aimed at readers who wanted the standard Latin emblems in the vernacular. Each page sits inside woodcut frames of strapwork cartouches, scrolled volutes, vines, masks and reclining grotesque figures, alongside the small emblem scenes themselves, giving designers modular border pieces, headpieces and tailpiece ornaments that can be cut apart and reused.
