Lucernae fictiles musei Passerii
An antiquarian catalogue of ancient terracotta oil lamps from Giovanni Battista Passeri's collection, published at Pesaro in 1739 for scholars and collectors of Roman antiquities, with plates drawn by Giuseppe Menabuoni and engraved by Carlo Gregori, Vincenzo Franceschini and others. Each numbered plate shows a single lamp seen from above against ruled hatching, its cast shadow falling to one side, with relief scenes of gods, soldiers, animals and masks set in the circular discus and scrolled handles flanking the body; useful for roundel compositions, hatched grounds and small figural medallions.
