A Dutch antiquarian emblem book by Ludolph Smids, published in Amsterdam in 1712 with engravings by Jacobus Schijnvoet, presenting invented commemorative medals for the thirty-six counts of Holland to readers of history and coin collections. Each plate stacks two shaded discs on a plain ground: an obverse bust in cap, crown or armour ringed by Latin capitals, and a reverse emblem such as Fortune with her wheel, clasped hands over a shield, or a bundle of arrows — useful as roundel frames, circular lettering layouts and small emblem devices.
