Lud. Smids Tooneel van staat der Roomsche keiseren : neevens deeser groot muntekabinet
A Dutch account of the Roman emperors and their coinage, written by Ludolph Smids and etched and published by Adriaan Schoonebeek in Amsterdam in 1694 for antiquarians and medal collectors. The plates are small upright etchings of emperors in armour and toga staging scenes of audience, supplication and acclamation inside colonnaded halls, with hatched floors, heavy drapery and niche statues supplying ready-made classical interiors, drapery studies and grouped standing figures.
