A Jesuit emblem book by Henricus Engelgrave, printed at Cologne in 1655, pairing engraved emblems with meditations on the Sunday gospel readings for preachers and devotional readers. The plates set small scenes—a censer smoking before a colonnade, altar fires, architectural interiors—inside round medallions framed by heavy scrollwork, alongside cast-fleuron tailpieces useful as borders, cartouche shapes and ornament stock.
