Luz da liberal, e nobre arte da cavallaria : offerecida ao Senhor D. João, principe do Brazil
A Portuguese manual of horsemanship by Manoel Carlos de Andrade, printed at the Regia Officina Typografica in Lisbon in 1790 and dedicated to Prince João, for riding masters and noble pupils of the royal manège. Copperplates after Joachim Carneiro da Silva, engraved by Gaspar Fróis Machado and Manuel Alegre, show a single uniformed rider working a horse through school movements beside pillars and walls, with hoof-track diagrams drawn on the ground, useful for horse anatomy in motion, eighteenth-century riding dress, and figure-and-diagram page layouts.
