A Dutch pattern book of garden ornament and layout, compiled by G. van Laar and published by Jacobus de Ruyter in Amsterdam in 1802 for landowners and gardeners building pleasure grounds cheaply. The plates combine hand-coloured plans of winding water, serpentine paths and clumped planting with small perspective views of rustic garden buildings, giving designers stippled tree symbols, pale green and ochre wash palettes, and curving path-and-pond outlines.
